Thank you to Dr. Stevens Taekwondo Academy

On Saturday, 10/24/2009, Master John McCrackin, Master Mike Fenske, Mike McCrackin, Dan Andersen, and Lyle Pater attended a pressure point/hapkido seminar hosted by Dr. Dwight Stevens' Taekwondo Academy in Stevens Point, WI.

The afternoon session was attended by nearly 40 black belts & law enforcement officers from all around Wisconsin. The event was well organized and a fun way to spend an afternoon.  Master Dwight Stevens and Master Fred Carsky did an excellent job presenting the techniques.  Each maneuver was followed by an entertaining story of how it was used in real life.

Some of the topics covered:
  • Pressure point areas found around the face, neck, and legs
  • Wrist escapes, arm bars, and take-downs
  • Finishing moves
  • Women's defense strategies

Master Boese graduates Kukkiwon Master Instructor Licensing Course

Oct. 25, 2009

Master Boese graduated from the 17th Foreign Instructor Course conducted by the Kukkiwon. Master Boese attended the course with Grandmaster Suggs.

The Kukkiwon Master Instructor Licensing Course is mandatory in South Korea if one wishes to operate a Taekwondo DoJang. In the United States it is not mandatory as there are no rules regarding who can and cannot operate a Taekwondo DoJang. This course is only open to 4th Dan Kukkiwon or higher. I encourage everyone who holds a Kukkiwon 4th Dan or higher to attend this course in the future, particularly if you operate a Taekwondo DoJang. Furthering your education is one of the primary responsibilities of a Taekwondo Instructor.

Master Boese; "Always be a good student of Taekwondo."

An interesting article that talks about taekwondo in the UFC, olympics, and the division between WTF & ITF.
